From October 16 to October 26, 2019 2nd year undergraduates of the department “Standardization, Certification and Metrology” of the Transport and Energy Department of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumileva Bayғazyev Bekzhan, Kuanysh Erkenazym, Құdabay Elenora, Shupanov Abylay, Asatulin Ramil, Akhmetov Meirambek, Құrmanғali Dulat, Serikbaeva Albina, Bazarbekyzy Altyna, Kusenova Alina passed scientific training at the Lublin technical University (Lublin, Poland).
The purpose of the scientific internship is to increase the level of theoretical and practical knowledge, exchange experience, collect information on the topics of dissertations, and also strengthen intercultural ties.
Technical University "Lublin Polytechnic" - one of the five state educational institutions of Lublin, while the only university of a technical profile. The attractiveness of the university is expressed, first of all, in a high level of education and modern educational programs. Lublin Polytechnic offers educational programs at the first level of study - undergraduate, engineer, master, doctor (postgraduate). Most of the university’s educational programs at which training is conducted have received a high rating from the State Accreditation Commission.
Since its foundation, the Lublin Polytechnic has been training engineering personnel and conducting research, mainly for the Lublin region. The main areas of research are the development of design and technology, environmental protection, as well as the saving of materials and energy. Lublin Polytechnic carries out expertise and conducts consulting activities. The results of research in these areas are numerous scientific publications, as well as patents for inventions.
The university has 6 faculties:
• Faculty of construction and architecture;
• Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science;
• Faculty of Environmental Engineering;
• Faculty of Mechanics;
• Faculty of Technology;
• Faculty of Management.
The university has 16 technical areas that combine more than 50 specialties. There are also departments of the administration, which are engaged in the implementation of individual scientific, didactic tasks. The university library provides an opportunity to familiarize students and university staff with scientific literature, scripts, textbooks and information publications in the field of technical sciences, as well as scientific and professional journals. A large selection of foreign literature is presented. The library has about 150 thousand books, there is a subscription to more than 300 Polish print magazines and 40 foreign publications. Resources are available at a convenient time in five faculty libraries and central service points — the reading room and the patent and standardization information center. They are located on the campus of the Lublin University of Technology on Nadbystshytskaya street.
Since 2009, the digital library of the Lublin University of Technology has been operating, the purpose of which is Internet access to the scientific and educational resources of the university and documents related to its history, as well as the history of science and technology in this region. The university has the following departments of the administration, which are engaged in the implementation of individual scientific, didactic tasks:
• Library;
• Bureau of Development and Cooperation;
• Computing center;
• Center for Innovation and Advanced Technology;
• Lublin business incubator;
• Lublin Technology Transfer Center.
A special unit of the university is the Bureau of Development and Cooperation, which is engaged in cooperation with partner organizations and the search for partners in order to implement joint activities.
Within the walls of the university, a Computing Center operates, the main task of which is the creation, maintenance and development of computer systems that support the management of a higher educational institution. The center also develops materials and documentation, provides training in the field of computer systems, which it develops. The computer center coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software in all organizational units of the university.
Among the important departments of the university are the Center for Innovation and Advanced Technologies, the Lublin Enterprise Incubator, the Lublin Technology Transfer Center. The Center for Innovations and Advanced Technologies was created to strengthen and optimize the activities of the Lublin Polytechnic in such sectors as the popularization of new technologies, the introduction of scientific results, as well as more efficient use of the intellectual and technical potential of the university. The main function of the incubator is to support and popularize the idea of entrepreneurship among students, to awaken the spirit of entrepreneurship among young people and to help beginning businessmen. One of the priorities of the incubator is to attract funds from external sources, for example, the European Social Fund. They are necessary when preparing students, graduates and young researchers at opening their own business and the effective implementation of business ideas. The Lublin Technology Transfer Center carries out its mission in the following areas: search and commercialization of research results; popularization of innovative business events and technologies; development of technological cooperation of the Lublin Voivodeship, in particular, with the states of the European Union; supporting the development of innovative enterprises; special education and training; cooperation with local authorities, government agencies and commercial organizations.
A unique material and technical base has been created at the Lublin Polytechnic University, which allows for the provision of scientific research and training at the modern level - a physical complex of radiation systems with a wide range of energies and types of accelerated particles: the only nuclear research reactor, electronic synchrotron, cyclotrons, microtrons, high-current ionic and electronic accelerators. At the disposal of students and scientists are modern cryogenic equipment, a wide range of test benches, test and measurement complexes, electronic systems, scientific and training ranges, a developed analytical instrument base; telecommunications, providing communication with the whole world.
Graduate students familiarized themselves with the metrology department of the Metrology department, and relevant international standards like ISO / IEC 2382-37 Information technology - Vocabulary - (Information Technology. Dictionary. Part 37. Biometrics), ISO / IEC 24787 Information technology - Identification cards - On -card biometric comparison (Information technology. Identification cards. Biometric comparison on an identification card).
On weekends, undergraduates got acquainted with the main attractions of the city - the historic center of Lublin, the Old Town, the Lublin Palace, the Central Cathedral, the Dominican Monastery, Grodsky and Krakow Gates, the Trinity Tower and the Maidanek camp.
At the end of the ten-day internship, undergraduates were awarded certificates of its successful completion.
