The purpose of the audit program is to plan the type and number of audits and provide the resources necessary for them.

The audit program is managed by senior management. Managing the audit program involves: a) defining the goals and scope of the audit; b) determining responsibilities, resources, and procedures; C) ensuring the implementation of the program; d) tracking and analyzing the program; and e) maintaining audit program records. Responsibility for managing the audit program should be assigned to persons who understand the audit principles, have the auditor's competence, and are able to use the audit tools and methods.

Those responsible for implementing the audit program must have the authority set out in a special document or procedure. Establishing authority on behalf of management is necessary to ensure that the audited (especially for internal audits) take the audit seriously and take corrective actions to correct the identified deficiencies.

Students took an active part in developing the audit program, forming an audit team, and determining the goals, scope, and criteria for the audit. Methods of working in a group, business game were used.
