In the light of the Address of the President of our country Kassym - Jomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan at the Department «Standardization, certification and Metrology» a round table on «Social modernization - the basis of prosperity of the country» was held. Among the participants of the event are visiting Professor, PhD, Siegfried Peter Ladnorg, faculty of the Department, undergraduates.
In the President's Address, much attention is paid to improving the quality of education: «Only half of the country's higher education institutions provide 60 percent of the employment rate of their graduates. we must direct all our efforts to improve the quality of education.» The teaching staff of the Department considered such topical issues as the transformation of educational programs taking into account the needs of the labor market, the internationalization of education, the use of information technologies in the dissemination of knowledge.
Professor Siegfried Peter Ladnorg elaborated on the social skills of students: «I believe that teaching social skills is important, as well as other General and special disciplines. We know that every Western University pays great attention to the development of social skills for students and several Kazakh universities have realized the importance of this issue. From time to time I ask students and undergraduates during and after my lectures whether they like to study at ENU, what they like, their subjects, lecturers. And I always notice their high need for more personalized research and the lack of social aspects associated with their training. In my opinion, you should think about preparing curricula that include the social aspects of learning - for their future lives. No need to wait for you to indicate from above that it is necessary to make certain changes. We need you now to start making changes and improvements to the curriculum, including on social topics, and the teaching of social competence in each course and the entire field of study».
